Researching the demand in Australia for a high performance V8 4 seater coupe/convertible began in the early 90's and realising the potential untapped market, Mustang Australia began the process in 1993 of importing and certifying to Australian Design rules the first New Mustang GT.

The new Mustang had all the right criteria.

In September, 1994, the first Mustang GT Convertible arrived in Australia and Mustang Australia proceeded with the arduous task of engineering the Mustang to meet the requirements of the Federal Office of Road Safety to gain Australian Compliance Plate Approval under the Low Volume Import Scheme for new Mustang motor vehicles.

Since the granting of Australian Compliance Plate Approval Mustang Australia has been inundated with enquiry and sales on new Mustangs. The pricing of this new vehicle seemed to fill a gap in the Australian market for a genuine four seater convertible - V8 powered.

The new retro 2006 Mustang GT Fastback and Convertible were launched here in Sydney in late 2005 and were the most successful model to hit the market since the launch of the new Mustang in 1964. Mustang Australia introduced the Saleen S281 Coupe and Convertible, and the Saleen S281 Supercharged Coupe and Convertible to the Australian market and were quickly appointed Exclusive Agent for Saleen products Australia-wide. The Saleen Mustangs have been an outstanding success and sales have far surpassed the Mustang GT.

Mustang Australia takes great pride in introducing to the Australian market several limited edition versions, among these being the Parnelli Jones Boss 302 built by Saleen, and the incredibly powerful Saleen S302 Extreme producing a staggering 477 kw!

In late 2009 Mustang Australia was approached by Lee Iacocca’s representatives in the U.S. to be involved in the launch and distribution in Australia of the 45th anniversary Iacocca Mustang. This was one of the highlights of our motoring experience, we were able to import four of these fabulous Mustangs....totally handcrafted in California by the Gaffoglio Bros. Custom coach builders. The vehicles were beautifully finished and had a European style about them, not to mention they were brutally fast, powered by a supercharged 4.6 litre V8, 5 speed manual transmission, developing 550 bhp (410 kw).

Mustang Australia’s continuing commitment to introduce specialist models to the Australian market saw the launch of the 2011/12 Saleen S302 5.0 litre DOHC V8 series in coupe and convertible...these Saleens were without doubt the best styled Mustangs ever to come out of the U.S.

In January 2012 Mustang Australia showcased a wide body Shelby that had been totally customised to accommodate 21” x 11.5” front wheels and 22” x 13.5” rear wheels, horsepower was rated at 750 bhp (559 kw), code named the Shelby GT750M. This vehicle was not for the faint hearted, however, buyer activity was frantic and a limited number of vehicles was released into the Australian market and will undoubtedly be a collector’s item in years to come as will be the Iacocca.

In April 2012, Mustang Australia was proud to be appointed the sole Australian and New Zealand distributor for Roush Performance products and on the 4 January, 2013 unloaded the first new 2013 Roush RS3 Supercharged coupe in Dark Candy Red. The new owner’s comment on first sighting the Roush...”I love this car!”. Roush’s trademark line “Detroit Muscle Re-defined” is evident when you first cast your eyes on the RS3, the attention to finish and detail are faultless, the horsepower of 625 bhp (466 kw) together with a 6 speed Selecta Shift automatic transmission is what everybody has been waiting for ..... horsepower without the hassle!
